He aha te mea nui o te ao? He Tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated educator to join the senior leadership team at Taipā Area School. Our school has developed a vision which resonates with our local environment and reinforces Tiriti o Waitangi. The school vision focuses on three questions: ‘To know who we are’, ‘To know what we are capable of’ and ‘To know where we are going’.

We are seeking to appoint a deputy principal with proven teaching and leadership experience, who has the ability to work collaboratively as part of our senior leadership team and whole school community.

The preferred candidate would have experience in and leadership skills of the following:

  • An outstanding Kaiako.
  • Matauranga Māori and enabling Māori to achieve as Māori.
  • School wide growth of pedagogy and inclusion.
  • Development of a culture of wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
  • Creating opportunities for cross curricular, transdisciplinary, authentic learning.

We have three strong values of Manaakitanga, Painga and Mahitahi which we live by every day.   Most of our Ākonga whakapapa back to the iwi of Ngati Kahu. Our school vision clearly embraces our local history, culture, and language.

Taipā Area School has recently developed eight new learning spaces and a brand-new Gymnasium. In addition, our school is in the process of building six more classrooms to support our increasing roll.

Doubtless Bay is an awesome place to live and work. Our school backs on to Taipā Beach which we guarantee is the best open-air classroom in Northland.  Having immediate access to the ocean, estuary and local whenua enable our students opportunities to access authentic learning.  There is a school house available with this vacancy.

If you feel that this is an opportunity for you.  You will be more than welcome to visit and tour the school with our Principal, David Lowe, prior to applying. Please contact Lisa Jurlina: to arrange a suitable date and time.

Taipa Area School are seeking relief teachers with a current New Zealand registration who are available on a day to day basis. Our ideal relievers will be able to create positive relationships with our tamariki as well as follow a teaching and learning programme left by the class teacher. Beginning teachers are welcome to apply.
