Taipa Area School is excited to be in the position to employ a music teacher for Y7–13. The ideal candidate will be student-focused and able to work collaboratively as part of a strong and cohesive team. Previous experience of teaching NCEA would be a clear advantage for this position. Additionally, if the right candidate applies, there would be an opportunity to receive an additional two middle management units to support the leadership of the faculty. Due to the unique nature of our school, the Music Department works collaboratively with Art and Technology, making a ‘Creative Technologies’ faculty.

The successful candidate will have strong curriculum knowledge and pedagogical expertise in music. Additionally, a candidate who wishes to apply for the leadership position will have experience in collaborative leadership, which reflects our school vision of ‘to navigate together for success’.

Our school is on a waka which puts student safety, achievement and a sense of belonging at the heart of everything we do. We have three values of Manaakitanga, Painga and Mahitahi, which we live and breathe daily. The Music Department is well-resourced and, during term two of 2023, will be undergoing a classroom and performance area rebuild. Most of the student’s whakapapa back to the iwi of Ngati kahu, which has supported our recent kaupapa for traditional Māori music. Our school vision embraces our local history, culture, and language.

This vacancy is an exciting opportunity for an NZ registered teacher to add value to and grow within a supportive, thriving, well-resourced department. Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
