Reporting to Whanau | Taipa Area School

REPORTING TO WHANAU

The vision of the New Zealand Curriculum is for our young people to be confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners. The purpose of reporting is to share information about a child’s learning, progress, and achievement towards this vision in ways that support further learning.

Communicating clear, dependable information about progress and achievement in a timely manner, provides a basis for building a strong partnership between the student, teacher, parents and whānau to support learning and improve student outcomes.

After having consulted with our school community (teachers, students and whanau), we want to keep the things that work for our students and community, but at the same time focus on continuous improvement. Whanau and students really wanted to keep the ‘Traffic Light system’ and parents wanted an increase in the frequency of a report.

Therefore, parents will receive an emailed report at the end of week 4 and 8 of each term (parents must stipulate if they would like a paper copy). This report will relate to ‘work completion’ and ‘attitude to values’ for every curriculum area your child studies. Student achievement can be viewed via the portal portal.taipa.school.nz. Teachers will ensure that timely assessments are made throughout the term and will be available to view through this platform.

Face to Face Communication (Parent Progress Evening)

Online content will be supported by face to face learning conferences, every term involving parents, students and teachers. This is an excellent time to discuss your child’s learning journey, social development and to set future goals. If you have any queries or concerns about your child at other times, please communicate with your child’s teacher.
