Attendance

Schools, along with parents and guardians, have a legal responsibility for making sure students attend school regularly. Therefore it is important when a student is absent that:

An explanation for their absence (including medical appointments) is notified. There are a number of ways to do this:

  • Whanau can call the office and explain the absence.
  • Whanau can reply to the automatic text which is sent out when your child fails to attend whanau time and/or forgets to sign in at the office or student support centre.
  • Whanau can supply a reason by way of a note sent in with students upon their return to school.
  • Whanau teacher may call home and make a note of conversation and either email attendance officer or note on Kamar.

If a student is absent for three or more days, the students caregivers’ must supply a doctor’s certificate explaining their absence from school.
