Buses, Bikes and Cars

Most of our students travel by bus and 16 buses are involved. If you need to change buses for what-ever reasons, please bring a note from home explaining what bus you are on, what one you want to change to and why. This note has to be given to Mr J Horan or left at the school office the bus controller at least 3 days before the change is to be made.  North-west bound buses leave from outside the gym. South and East bound leave from the front of the school. See your class or form teacher if you are unsure of which bus to catch.

Students who ride bicycles to school may leave them in the rack outside the office. You are advised to have a bike padlock so that it is secure

Students who wish to drive themselves to school must bring a note from their parents or caregivers explaining why it is necessary and including a copy of the student’s driving licence.

Enrolment Zone Issue:

Parents need to know that they are able to continue to enrol their children at Taipa even if they live within the enrolment zone for Kaingaroa School. If families live within the Kaingaroa enrolment zone it does not mean that their children are unable to attend any other school. The free bus service to Taipa Area School for students from Karikari Peninsula will continue, even though the area is identified as part of the Kaingaroa enrolment zone

You are encouraged to take part in all school activities both inside and outside the class room. Students who say they are bored are usually the ones who are not involved in any sort of lunchtime activities.
Get involved in:
  • Pool swims
  • Beach swims
  • Sports such as:
    • Touch
    • Ki o rahi
    • Athletics
    • Netball

    • Rugby

The more you involve yourself in your class work and in activities outside the classroom, the more you will feel connected and that you belong.  People who enter enthusiastically into what they are doing are the people who are successful and who achieve. We hope that you are one of those people and that you enjoy your time at this school. For our part, we will do everything we can to make that happen.

Be Sun Smart!

When you are in school make sure that you use the sunblock available to you in your class room, before you go out to interval, lunch, phys. ed., or onto the beach.
Wear a cap or a hat all the time when you are outside.

Primary and Intermediate Students

When you are swimming in the pool, please make sure that you wear the correct swimwear, nothing made of cotton, because it blocks up the filter. Also, remember that you can get burnt when you are in the water, so make sure that you have your sunblock on.

Years 9 and 10

If you are on the beach at lunchtimes, having a supervised swim or just being with your friends, make sure that you have used plenty of sunblock and that you are wearing a cap or a hat when you are in the sun.

Some of the worst sunburn happens on gray days, when the sun doesn't appear to be shining

Make sure that you are sun smart.
