Futures Evening 2010
Futures Evening was held on Tuesday evening (22 September)
at the school Whare / Cultural Centre at 6pm for all current
Year 10, 11, and 12 students and their Parents and Guardians.
The
purpose of the meeting was to provide students with careers
information and an outline of the proposed subjects that we plan
to make available for students to study at Taipa Area School in
2010 at Year 11, 12 and 13. Information about e learning (such
as video conference courses) and NZQA was also available,
Students are expected to complete and return the option
choice form (file available above) during the last week of term 3. In
term 4 the information given to us via the option choice forms
will be used to construct the school timetable and staffing for
2010 in the senior part of the school.
To
help students with their subject choices all Year 10 students
have a careers focus during their Social Studies course in
term 3 and we have published the Option Handbook for Level 1 and
for Level 2 & 3. Mr Lee has also organized a range of careers
events for students over the year.
It is important to be aware that, because of the government
staffing allocations set for schools, not all of the subjects
that we would like to offer will run. Therefore, it is to the
student’s advantage that they complete the form in order that
the 2010 timetable will be based on their choices. |
