School Wide Goals and Objectives 2010

Goal 1: Teachers will implement effective teaching strategies to increase the engagement and achievement of all students
  1. To increase the formative practice of all teachers including discursive practice, cooperative learning, co-construction, effective use of academic feedback and feed forward and use of students prior knowledge to deepen learning
  2. To raise the literacy and numeracy competency of all students
  3. To effectively implement ‘Ka Hikitia’ goals and strategies in all school areas
  4. To continue to develop and implement the NZ Curriculum
  5. To strengthen teachers’ use of assessment information

 

Goal 2: The school will actively develop and promote shared leadership amongst staff and students

  1. To actively foster and encourage student leadership in all year groups
  2. To develop the curriculum leadership and management skills of middle managers

 

Goal 3: The school will actively foster respectful relationships between staff, students and community

  1. To incorporate restorative practice at all levels of student and staff management
  2. To ensure the ‘Taipa Way’ for students and teachers is implemented consistently
  3. To consult with and report regularly to the school community about student achievement and school strategies to raise students achievement

 

Goal 4: The BOT will ensure that financial administration and property development is aligned with curriculum development and strategic planning.
  1. To develop a budget that aligns with the schools annual planning format
  2. To align school property development with the schools strategic intent
  3. To purposefully and adequately resource departments according to curriculum and strategic requirements
  4. To ensure hazards are identified, managed and reported

 

Goal 5: The school will be a place where all students like to be, providing them with a sense of place, purpose and identity
  1. To embed cooperative learning strategies as part of normal teaching practice
  2. To develop social and learning environments for students both inside and outside the classroom
  3. To provide students with varied learning opportunities outside the normal timetable
  4. To increase the capacity of the student academic counselling programme

 

ICT and ELearning tools will be incorporated to support and enhance each of the 5 school wide goals

2010 Achievement Targets

 

Literacy

Numeracy

Primary

(Including Immersion)

  • 80% of year 3-6 students will be reading at or above chronological age (according to Probe Testing)
  • To have 80% of Year 1-3 students working at the average or above average level for their age according to the NZ benchmarks in writing.

 

  • 75% of Y 3-6 students are achieving at stage 6 of the number framework
  • Year 1-3 students achieving at stage 2 or below will progress by 2 stages

Intermediate

(Including Bilingual)

  • 80% of year 7&8 students will be reading at or above chronological age (according to Probe Testing)
  • All students reading below chronological age will improve by at least one year

 

  • All  students are progressing by at least 1 stage of the knowledge stage key
  • All students achieving at level 2 will progress at least to level 4 of the number framework

 

Year 9 – 10

(Including Bilingual)

  • 60% of year 9 and 10 students will be achieving at or above national norms according to ASSTLE reading test
  • Raise the ASSTLE sublevel of at risk students by 2

 

  • All year 9 and 10 students will progress at least one level in the number framework
  • Students identified as at risk (level 2 or below)will progress 2 levels

NCEA TARGETS

Year 11-13

  • : 80 -100% of year 11 students will achieve NCEA level 1
  • : 80% of year 12 students will achieve NCEA level 2
  • : 60% of year 13 students will achieve level 3
  • : 60% of year 13 students will achieve UE

 

  • : 100% of Y11 students will achieve Literacy/numeracy minimum requirements by end of 2010
  • 100% of all year 12 and 13 school leavers will achieve level 2 or above NCEA pass

 

Attendance

  • Increase daily attendance of year 9-13 by 10% by term 3

 

  • Increase year 9 – 13 subject attendance  by 10% by term 3

Maori

All Maori students are achieving at equal levels with other students

 

Pacific Island

All Pacifica students are achieving at equal levels with other students
